Human Trafficking Prevention Event (Jun. 13, 2024)

Coordinator's Corner

This midmonth edition of the TRAGAST bulletin is dedicated to events designed to raise awareness of Human Trafficking and the prevention thereof. Below are 3 stories:

1. The 30 June Sound of Freedom event followed by a delicious dinner at Tulou Restaurant Chiang Mai Thailand. Incoming District Governor Apasik Jompong has agreed to be our guest speaker. Thank You!

2. Request for collaboration for future awareness events featuring the Sound of Freedom.

3. TRAGAST Sponsorship opportunities.

As a native-born citizen of the United States of America I am particularly proud that Juneteenth is a holiday that celebrates individual freedom. In the words of President Joe Biden “A day of profound weight and power. A day to remember the original sin of slavery and the extraordinary capacity to emerge from the most powerful moments and the painful moments with a better vision for ourselves. A day that reminds us we have a hell of a lot more work to do. So, let's keep marching”.

TRAGAST Awareness Events

Collaboration Requested

Thus far, TRAGAST has sponsored 3 Human Trafficking Awareness Events this year. The goal is simply to raise awareness of human trafficking and to encourage people to join and/or support our team. Thanks to our event sponsors, each event has made a little money, which we earmark for prevention training.

We plan on sponsoring similar events in Chiang Rai, Phuket, Pattaya, Hua Hin and Bangkok. To do this we need to collaborate with Rotarian's and or organizations based in these locations. If you are interested please contact coordinator@tragast.org!

The RAGAS Mission Statement: The Rotary Action Group Against Slavery is committed to connect, empower and equip Rotarians to engage their communities to eradicate all forms of Modern Slavery/Human Trafficking locally and around the globe.
