BABSEACLE and The Gate Theater present The Asylum Monologues

The Asylum Monologues

November 5–7, 2026 • 6:00 PM

Presented in partnership with BABSEACLE

What does it really mean to be displaced?

The Asylum Monologues offers a powerful, firsthand look into the reality of seeking refuge and navigating the UK’s asylum system—told through the voices of people who have lived it.

Blending deeply personal testimony with political statements, public discourse, and statistical facts, this compelling Readers Theater production moves beyond the political noise to reveal the human realities behind asylum and displacement.

Each testimony traces a journey through borders, bureaucracy, uncertainty, fear, and fragile hope—giving audiences an opportunity to listen to experiences that are too often reduced to headlines and statistics.

Each performance will be followed by a 25-minute community discussion, providing an opportunity for reflection, questions, and meaningful conversation.

Special Thai-Language Interpretation — November 7

The November 7 performance will include live Thai-language interpretation, making the production more accessible to Thai-speaking audience members.

By attending, you become part of the Gate Theater’s commitment to freedom, individuality, and social justice—listening closely, questioning assumptions, and reflecting on how systems and policies affect real human lives.
